Movie Review of Harry Potter

Harry Potter

* The theme of love and Death:

The theme of love and death goes parallel to the text but stands opposite throughout the text. Here we can devided into two part one is Willingly and second is forcefully. Harry stands in the world because of love by his mother while voldamort can be considered as from blackbackground rather from the evil.

The past of Harry is same with the past of Valdamort. Valdamort brought up without parents instead of love while Harry without parents got love from those who are surrounded by him.
Harry has love in the form of  friends while Valdamort also has company but in the form of follower. Those who followers him not as a friend instead of that they serve voldamort out of self-motive or out of fear.

Voldamort thinks that love is the weakness of human being while Harry take it as a supporting side of it. Another thing can be considered as that

“Why Harry has need of hide his Love?”

because he knows the thinking of Voldamort that what he think that love is the weakness of human being and he may used Harry's love it to increase his power or as a protaction of love.
Death – self preservation he is fear for death that's the only reason to reached him to divided his should into seven horcrux.

The three brother's story using cloack – somehow death could findout its own way. Accept the choice willingly.

*Feministic reading Hermione:

Hermione is not intellectual debut between Dombledore and Harry. Proffesor Dombledore always help to Harry. When Harry meet the Dombledore at that time Hermione is not a present. Here we can found that those are the ground in society for women character.

Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women.

She is intelligent and warrior.Characters like Lily, etc.but at the end we can also say that this book also deconstruct as anti feminist book.

*Children Literature:

First of all what is children's literature: children’s literature is good quality trade books for children. Harry Potter is children book some people might suggest “children’s book” but it is doubtful that, they are right. Because Harry Potter books are appeal to many children but is children’s books really a genre of literature – apart from preschool fantasy books.

Perhaps a detective story for children is not as complicated as one for adults but is still a detective story, and it is like that the child who loves such stories will grow into an adult. Who loves such only on a higher level but we cannot classify harry potter primarily as children’s literature book but as fantasy literature.

Harry potter is interesting book and every part is gives moral lesson to us. For example love, family friends and relationship. Children literature is like sweet layer on bitter pill, same children’s literature is for children but deep satire on society. In children’s literature hero is generally in green shade, it means hero is childish and immature, innocent, trustworthy and undoubting. And villain is more mature.

When children are watching this movie, they only enjoyed it. But whereas the mature person watching this movie they started analyzing it, started looking it with different theory. Harry potter is horror books but children lot of enjoy. End of the novel is happy ending, and children’s literature. And it is also a kind of realistic literature, because it deals with the many them like love, death, faith, loyalty, relationship and many other things. There are so many theory which are applied on this book, so it is kind of realistic literature.

The Da Vinci Code

                                           Da Vinci Code

·      Yes, some difference I found in the portrayal of Women character in films. Women are always portraying as a double marginalized one. In reality women can suffer a lot. Now a day, we can found some changes in the position of women. If we talked about Ophelia in Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet, she is very intellectual or slight different than the Hamlet of Shakespeare. Kenneth Branagh takes more freedom in portraying woman. At the end Ophelia goes in madness and she died. Elizabeth also killed in the movie. Hester Prynne is out casting from the society. And all these three women are portraying from the point of view of male or through the eyes of male. But obvious, that the body of women more objectified. Hermione and Sophie’s physical appearance is more controlled in film. Both are very intellectual. No doubt that the movie’s theme “Feminine Sacredness” is played a vital role in portraying the female character like Sophie. But what camera played is also important thing.

The power of the female and her ability to produce life was once very sacred, but it posed a threat to the rise of the predominantly male Church, and so the sacred feminine was demonized and called unclean.

·      According to me the narrative and the story of the novel “The Da Vinci Code” is more agreeable, more convincing to the contemporary youth. Other thing is every age has its youth, which can be conditioned and is conditioned from ages. If the youth is having space to spread their horizons, then they would not be satisfied with even the narratives like “The Da Vinci Code”. It is desirable that youth should not be convinced by any of these three narrative. But the attraction of most of the young people will certainly go for “The Da Vinci Code” rather than “Genesis” and “Paradise Lost”.

·      ‘Knowability’ it means person don’t know that what he don’t know Robert Langdon or Sophie or Leigh Teabing or even Silas all are in quest of knowledge. They see it in holy grail but ultimately they want to ‘know’ something. And when the knowledge dawns upon Langdon or Sophie it comes as an abstract thing

Movie Review of The Reluctant Fundamentalist

The Reluctant Fundamentalist:

The Reluctant Fundamentalist novel is written by Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid and directed by Mira Nair. She is an Indian Filmmaker and actress based in New York. We have great imagination of America but in this movie we can find that myth is broken down and we see with new perspective.

This movie is a story of one person named Changez Khan. This movie is based on the 2007 novel and also based on Historical Event of 9/11, and the Post- 9/11 period is the time after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, characterized by heightened suspicion of Non – Americans in the United states, increased government efforts to address terrorism, and a more aggressive American foreign policy.

This movie is all about political controversy and 9/11 attack, idea of East and West, American dream of Changez. Professor of Pakistan University Changez and Bobby Lincoln played a vital role in the movie. Other characters of movie are Arica, an American girl, Boss of this company, Sameer, friend of Changez. American dream of Changez is the main incident in this movie. If we compare this incident with Post – Colonial angle, we can say that how American’s behave with other country’s people. In this movie Changez is very happy to get a job in American company but the he realized that, whatever order is given by his boss is to be completed by him. End of the movie Changez was a Happy because he returns his home and Country.

Thanks………..

Film Review of Midnight’s Children

Film Review of Midnight’s:

As a part of study Post – Colonial Literature, we watched two movies Midnight’s Children and Reluctant Fundamentalist. When I watched this movie I found some ‘Post – Colonial’ idea and understand, what is ‘Post-Colonial’ studies? Post – Colonial studies means… a theoretical structure which given new perspective to look towards the things. We can say that, Post Colonialism is a fluent.

Midnight’s Children:

‘Midnight’s Children’ is written by Salman Rushdie and this movie under the same name ‘Midnight’s Children’ is made by Deepa Mehta. He is an Indo – Canadian film director and Screenwriter.

This movie is covering whole story of the narrator named Saleem Sinai. We can say that, the complex story centers on two boys born in Bombay atmidnight on Aug. 15, 1947, which is the moment India abrogated British rule. One infant is born into wealth; the other’s is complicated, but he raised by poor wandering musicians. Except the babies are swapped at birth. Saleem, raised in the well-to-do family, narrates the story.

Saleem and Shiva this two names it self suggest that how religion plays a vital role in Post Colonial Studies. It self talks about two nations India and Pakistan. India, Pakistan and Bangladeshi history interspersed with the evolution of Saleem and his counterpart-turned- rival, Shiva. In this movie we found concrete dramas of war, poverty, birth and death, the story dips into magical realism. In this movie one character Parvati is also trying Magic Realism, or marvelous realism is Literature, painting and film. All children born between midnight and 1 a.m. on that historic date harbor special powers.
